Manuscript Loop

Persistent manuscript charters — books, papers, theses, memoirs, novels, poetry collections, essays. Each charter tracks an outline, section manifest, and — once compiled — the final manuscript document. Every section is drafted under a type-aware policy: sourced-work types halt on unsourced claims; fiction and poetry allow the LLM to invent freely while still refusing to fabricate system barcodes.

What is a manuscript in this system?

A manuscript is any long-form work — book, paper, thesis, memoir, novel, poetry collection, essay — composed section-by-section through the loop. The word "manuscript" is chosen because it is genre-neutral. What the system guarantees varies by type.

Six types, six policies:

  • nonfiction_thesis — every claim traces to a source; NEEDS_SOURCE halts.
  • memoir — biographical claims sourced by operator's own journal DOC-s.
  • case_study — nonfiction rigor + narrative freedom for framing.
  • essay — mixed: cite where possible, argue in your own voice. NEEDS_SOURCE becomes a warning, not a halt.
  • fiction — invent freely. LLM may not fabricate DOC-/WRD- system barcodes but everything else — plot, dialogue, character — is invented.
  • poetry — evocative, non-referential. Same policy as fiction.

For every type, the LLM is never allowed to invent a DOC-/WRD-/system barcode — that would corrupt the substrate. For sourced types, no fact can appear that doesn't trace to a registered source. For creative types, invention is invited but the substrate stays clean. The compiled manuscript is a real DOC- with a provenance footer.
